Malta’s Best Breakfast Spots
March 28, 2017
Many tourists visiting Malta who’ve come across my Instagram in the past have requested I advise them on some good food spots, and I frequently receive messages from the Maltese asking about the restaurants and bistros I share photos of. I am always on the lookout for new breakfast spots in particular, with a unique concept and an intriguing interior – Which is why I thought it would be lovely to share my favourites with you all.
This post has been long overdue, but here it is! My guide to the best breakfast & brunch spots in Malta – having also taken the places’ decor and environment into account, and not just the food.
New York Best
New York Best is usually one of my favourites because of it’s sriracha hot dog, but it made it to this list simply because of their fantastic breakfast menu, which any instagram addict wouldn’t miss the chance of photographing – due to their avocado-on-rye or perfect eggs benny served on photogenic marble tables.
U Bistrot has long been a favourite of mine, and their Eggs Benedict is an unbeatable choice. If you aren’t a massive egg lover like myself, they offer some other lovely options to kickstart your day (Waffles, Pancakes anyone?) Their tea/smoothie selection is also partially why I hang out there so often!
Emma’s Kitchen is just an adorable & original food spot the Maltese can’t get enough of, and that is why I like to recommend this to my foreign friends and readers who are paying the island a visit. I was so eager to try this place out after having heard great things. It sure didn’t disappoint, and here’s my recent Turkish Eggs order (tastes as good as it looks!)
If you’re hanging out in Valletta some morning, be it taking a leisurely stroll around Merchant Street or searching for a quick food spot in between work hours – I recommend trying this place out. They offer some of the most visually appealing food which will surely appeal to your taste buds as well.
Palazzo Parisio serves one of the loveliest Eggs Benedict on the island, but I also obviously adore this place because of it’s appearance and history which make it a must-visit if you’re in Malta. The wonderful service and soothing outside atmosphere will complement your breakfast well.
Shoreditch carries a reputation for it’s pancakes, and rightfully so. Their American-style pancakes are the best on the island, and being located in St.Julians, Shoreditch has been my go-to place for a while now- Having satisfied my every craving.
Waffle Bros – Espresso Bar
This little place in Ta’ Xbiex serves a variety of waffles all day – sweet and savoury – and their waffles are definitely the best I’ve tried in Malta thus far.
Frensh is a little French food place tucked away in Balluta. Although it doesn’t offer it’s own area to sit at, there’s nothing better than taking a couple of their French bakes to savour on a bench facing the sea.
The Ladybird Street Cafe
A favourite if you’re in the Gzira area – Some of the best breakfast and greatest hospitality I’ve enjoyed in Malta.
